Confrontations

You and I know that confrontational politics is mostly all blow and no show. Think Rush Limbaugh, and no I won’t give you a link to his lies; we don’t need to lie to each other to make a democracy function for the benefit of the people. All that blow is a displacement activity for the politicians and the people to think about something that can’t possibly be important — think Michelle’s arms, and I won’t link to that either — while the real power moves behind the scenes. A displacement activity is something we do when we can’t do the real deal. Confrontational politics. and trivial gossip, are games that we play in the open to stop the people worrying about what is happening behind closed doors. It’s a way to keep the power for the politicians — and away from the people.

Why do we fall for this time after time?
